Song of the Day: Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, "On the Road Again"

I just purchased an audiobook of On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I've always wanted to read it, but the time has never been right. So what better time than now, right? When I've got hours of time "on the road" to spend listening to audiobooks.

Just in case you're wondering, here's how my epic road trip is gonna break down (see the google map here):

Saturday, Sept. 12: 6.5 hours from Richmond to Athens, Ohio to see one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, Ellee.
Sunday, Sept 13: Hiking and picture taking with Ellee in Ohio
Monday, Sept 14: 5.5 Hours to Bloomington, Indiana to see my best friend from college, Chelsea.
Tuesday, Sept 15: 3 hours to Champaign, IL to see my wonderful friend Laura, who is in grad school there.
Wednesday, Sept 16: 6.5 hours to Kansas City to pick my mom up from the airport. If all goes according to plan.. we should be getting there just in time for a nice KC Barbecue dinner (and we all know how much this girl LOVES her BBQ)
Thursday, Sept 17: 9 hours to Colorado Springs, Co., where we'll stay with my old youth pastor Sandy and her wonderful family and then spend two more days adventuring in the rockies with some of my dad's FCA connections.
Sunday, Sept 20: 9 hours to Jackson, Wyoming and Grand Tetons National Park.
Monday, Sept 21: Just an hour north, for a day of adventures in Yellowstone NP (REALLY excited for this one) and then Gardiner, MT for the night.
Tuesday, Sept 22: 11.5 hours to Gig Harbor, Washington, where we'll stay with old family friends for the night.
Wednesday, Sept 23: Seattle!!

That's a total of 12 states, 3,402 miles, and 54 hours on the road! (And 30+ of those hours will be spent in the car with my mother! Please pray for my sanity!). In addition to the 11 hour audio book of On The Road, I'm currently filling my IPod with podcasts and new playlists-- so now would be an appropriate time for you to e-mail your favorite MP3s to theroquifort@gmail.com. If you've got a slow connection and can't send MP3s.. your recommendations are just as valuable.

What's good road trip music? Good radio programs? Anyone know of an audiobook that mom and I might want to listen to together??
